Getting hot after sts turbo
Getting hot after sts turbo
First of all, to merge all the discussions since the 2010 is coming out is kind of unorganized but that is just my 2 cents. Second, I have noticed since installing my sts turbo on my 1995 z28 October of 2007, within a min or 2 of idle, the engine is already close to operating temp. I have also noticed that it gets alot hotter than it used to (given it has always ran hot). Would a radiator flush help this or is this normal with boosted cars. What are some suggestions. Thanks.
Stock thermostat?
Turbo cars usually have a good amount of back pressure, and that makes the motor work harder. What are you calling operating temp? Reading from the gauge or from the computer with a scan tool?
For reference
I have an electric pump, 160 stat, stock rad, stock fans always on low, high at 175 if below highway speeds, and I run a pretty consistent 170-175 with normal driving - and see 190-200ish max when abusing the car.
Turbo motors will run warmer.
