gages?
gages?
Not really specific to the boost forum but I need some help.
I need to buy a fuel psi and boost gages. But I don't know which ones to get. I like the look of the carbon fibers(autometer) but don't know how visible they are at a quick glance. I know the autolites are easy to read but they would stick out as no other piece in the car is white.
Do you guys watch boost/fuel gages every run? How easy to read are the carbon fibers? If it isn't a problem, I will get them. But if you guys feel the autolites are on top in this area, I may go with them.
Any thoughts?

I have the cobalt series ones. They look exactly like the stock dash during the day. While they don't match my interior lights at night, they are definitely the most visible gauges I've ever had in a car. I even see what's going on with them while looking at the road (without looking directly at them).

fuel pressure is important. If for some reason, pressure starts dropping off, you'll start running lean. lean condition + forced induction = bad stuff.

I watch it out of the corner of my eye pretty religiously at WOT, especially at the track. It's easy to see a bright orange needle fall down without paying too much attention to it. (again, the cobalt gauges are BRIGHT -- see url below)
WOT is the only time you will generally see fuel pressure falling off due to a pump going bad, fuel filter plugged up, etc. I don't run the car at WOT very often on the street, so it's not like I'm looking at it constantly.
