Fluidampr damper with a blower?

How many of yall out there have had sucess with using a fluidampr damper with a blower on lt1's. Im thinking about buying one but i keep reading bad stuff about them, i thought they were real good dampers. I was gonna use one on my 383 with a d1sc. Yalls input would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone not heard of anyone using the fluidampr on a lt1 with a blower. Whether it be bad or good?

i would not do it that thing is heavy thats a lot of stress to put on a crank snout. plus getting the pullies to line up. with a p600 maybe but hell you need a bb hub anyway, how many psi are we talking here?

Let me ask 'why' wouldn't you run the stock piece?

If you are going to use an after market dampner with a Procharger, you will need a custom spacer made for the blower pulley.

If not the Crank pulley will not center correctly, and it also won't align propoerly with the blower pulley.

You may want to consider the ATI harmonic balancer for a supercharged application. Yes, you may need to machine the spacer provided with a Procharger unit (not certain about other manufacturers).

Just machining the spacer that comes with the blower won't work properly if using and ATI Balancer. The factory spacer provided by procharger uses a nub to center itself in the stock balancer, the ATI opening is much larger than the stock one, so the pulley will move around in there (No the bolts won't center it). This is the main reason why we see so many Supercharged cars breaking their balancers, or having vibration/belt issues.

I'd have to disagree with you on this. I machined the aluminum spacer I received from Procharger to fit into the ATI balancer (at the same time reducing the overall thickness of the spacer to align the S/C pulley with the crank pulley). In fact this was done via Procharger's recommendations. It works fine.

I actually had to make my spacer thicker. But then again, I have a F1a. On mine th estock spacer wasn't even thick enough.

But I do agree, that done the way you did it would work. I have seen tons of people just mill them down, and not make a larger nub, to fit into the ATI opening.

Relaying one the three bolts to "center" the pulley on the hub is a receipe for disaster. As long as the spacer is properly machined and it centers the pulley, there should be no problems. By the way, mine is an F1-A as well.

I use the Fluidamper with my Vortech T-trim and I love it and have had no problems. The weight of the piece really has no affect since it's a neutral balance it's not like it adds any more stress to the crank than the blower crank pulley itself.

To use it I had to use a lathe and open up the inside of it so that the vortech balancer would center itself plus I enlarged the 3 bolt holes in the balancer and retapped them to accept larger bolts to hold the crank pulley in place. I actually use a custom ASP crank pulley but I had them build it exactly like the factory Vortech piece just in a larger diameter.

Honestly it was a ton of work to modify it to work. I'm not sure i'd trust a machine shop to do the lathing, drilling, and tapping. I did it myself since I have access to these tools in my dad's shop.

But to answer the original question, yes it has been done and it will work. It just takes some modification. Here is the only pic I have.

Thanks bkrepindy. Thats what i was looking for. But as for the other question i havent got around to answering; i dont want to use the stock piece because ill be turning some rpm's and i just dont want to spend that much to get the stock piece keyed and all. As for the other questions i was looking for about 14-15# of boost.
