Finally got my car to the track for the first time with the supercharger and slicks..

Well, after being busy, getting rained out, and almost going to a closed track, I finally got to take my car to the track. This was the first time I have ever ran my car at the track with the supercharger in it, and with slicks.

I must say, I definatly need more practice (as it shows). My first run, after locking up the line lock and hitting the gas, slid the car sideways. I tried it again quickly with the same results. At that time, the guy at the tree was yelling at me to hurry up and get up to the line. Knowing I had cold slick, I already new I was going to spin (which I did), but then after shifting, the back end started to sway pretty bad and I got out of it momentarily. Then later down the track, I felt a little bit of loosness in the back end again, so again I got out of it for a second to straighten the car back up. For having that bad of a run, I was actually happy with my pathetic 1.9 60' time, and 12.2 @ 122.

Due to people constantly breaking on the track in front of me, I only got one more run in. This one I got a good burnout (although my wife video recording missed it . I didn't do to well on the launch, but I was able go all the way down the track while staying in it. This time, I shifted into 5th, but from never having a fast enough car to need to shift to 5th before the end of the quarter before, it was a granny shift. 1.9 60' time again, but managed a 11.5 at 127.

I know I could do better with some practice. I am confident it is a 10 second car, I just need more track time.

Here's the video;

Hey, I plead the 5th. I didn't know you were at the track yesterday. You've got 10's written ALL over your car. Cut that short time down to a 1.5-1.6 range and you're in there.

This only wants me to get my car done faster!!!!!!!

Yep. Had vac leaks out the ying yang thanks to Brian he figured it out. Forgot the teflon tape the all the brass fittings. DOH. Did that and now the BPV sounds liike a 80ft Cobra hissing at you. I've got another fuel leak though at the 90* fitting attached to the bung at the rail. Real fine mist. The fitting is bad. Ordering one tonight and hope to have before next wkend as I tow the car to dyno 3 hrs away from where I live.

So I can't drive it on the base tune nor do I want to w/ that fuel leak. Been on fire before w/ my old setup and not gonna go through that again. We forgot to get vid of the start up but I'll try and convince the wife tomorrow to make a quick vid so I can post. Don't know how to edit and add words so it'll be basic like a ****! Ha-ha.

Next time, don't worry about the clown at the tree.

It's more unsafe to try to go with cold tires, and safety is #1 at the track.

I have 3.73's. The first run I ran 4th gear a little higher than I normally do (6700 RPM instead of 6500). Run #2, I shifted into 5th (slowly )

It's just going to take a bit more practice. #1, learning the RPM to launch at with properly heated tires (good point from 95 Z/28 LT1). #2, getting used to the car floating a little bit with the slicks on. After I get those two down, I beleive Fastbird is correct with his statement.

Ben, I wonder how accurate your stock speedo/tach are. I ask that because by using the f-body.org/gears calculator, with the 3.73's, 26" tire, and 94-97 T56 you should be able to wind 4th out to about 139@6700 RPM. That calculator is fairly accurate (I've radar verified the purple car and it's speedo calibration is based off of that calculator) so I wonder if something is off in your stock cluster possibly.

You're getting there Ben! I was out of town this weekend, so I didn't get your VM till late.

You'll be in the 10's easily with a better 60' and keeping it out of 5th gear (that really KILLS your times!).

Nice job Ben.....it will only improve with practice....and it really does take some practice to run good number with high hp cars (despite how some of the internet community thinks otherwise).

I couldn't even get close to an 11.5 with my slipping clutch right now. It slips above 4500 rpm. Got beat by a blown 03 mustang the other day.
