Felpro head gaskets?

Have you guys seen any issue with felpro head gaskets and boost. I was told by CM that they have seen heads lifting due to felpro head gaskets sealing issues.

I had them lift with 18 psi with ARP bolts, havent got that high with studs yet. I was using the 1074's

Re: Felpro head gaskets?

I wouldn't think that the lifting issue would be because of the head gaskets. A lot of guys run the Fel Pro 1074's on forced induction LT1's with some pretty impressive boost with no problems. If there is a lifting issue, it is because of excessive cylinder pressure more than likely. A friend of mine had a blown LT1 that had the heads lifting and the heads were studded. It unded up that the motor had been built by the previous owner with forged flat tops and the compression ratio was too high for the boost he was running. He had 1074's on it and once it was rebuilt with blower pistons, he had no problems with the same head gaskets.

If you get lifting then the seal isn't your problem... you need a larger diameter head stud.

On head gaskets, I would use a Cometic if you can have the heads and block machined to the required surface finish. Many guys are eliminating copper gasket/o-ringed sealing and the costs in machining for them by switching to Cometics.
