explain a reverse rotation blower

ive got a d-1sc procharger and im wondering if it will work on an f-body. if i sit the blower with the pulley facing me it spins clockwise, will that head unit work on an f-body? ive heard they require reverse rotation, so what exactly does that mean?

Turn it so the pulley faces you. Spin the pulley counterclockwise and see if any air comes out the discharge. In an LT1 car, the blower is mounted so that the pulley is facing the fans.

counter clockwise and the impellor is spinning the wrong direction for me to use on an f-body i guess. spinning counterclockwise sucks air thru the exit tube and releases thru the inlet. thanks for the help.....just wondering where you run in st louis?

I'm one of the admins of FAST (www.fastlouis.com). Gateway and Mid America are the closest tracks.

Actually I dropped the name "TechTrance" on all the boards. But yes, that is me.

Procharger has the reverse rotation housings. If you send the blower to them they'll fit one and return the blower and your stock inlet housing back to you. I had it done a few years ago; can't remember exactly but don't remember it as being real expensive.

If it has a helical impeller, you'll need an impeller change also (so the vanes curve the right way). If it has the radial impeller, just the compressor housing needs changed. Looking at the inlet of the blower, if the compressor discharges to the right, then it is a standard rotation blower. If it discharges to the left, it is a reverse blower.
