Engine Rebuild For Blower

First of all the car is a 1997 SS LT1. I would like my power goals to be around 450rwhp to 500rwhp pump gas. I'm not going to run anymore than 12#. I'm want to do this with an ati procharger(i dont' want to run a D1). And i will be putting a small blower cam in it. Probably be keeping my mac mid-lengths. I was wondering if i can run a scat rotating assembly, forged ofcourse and be safe. I am on a budget of around 8 grand so i'm hoping that i can have this done and installed for about that, thats with the blower kit and rebuilding the motor, all installed.

so about 500 rwhp, does it have a stock 10 bolt rear end? b/c i dont know how long that'll last and what type of tranny, if its an auto I dont think the 4L60E will hold out too long....

You should be good with a forged setup. The pistons will take the most abuse, so don't skimp there. Why not a D1?

I have the stock 10 bolt but it has 3:73 with the torsen diff and the tranny is a t56 viper spec. I'm not going to change the rear end till it breaks. well i am going forged i'm thinking an eagle crank i think its the 4340 it supposivly support 1000hp, then scat forged h beams that can support 750hp, then some nice je piston but not sure exactly the ones i need. i don't want to do the d1 becuase i dont need it.

You will probally be fine with the stock crank as long as your respect the goals you mentioned.. I'm runing one for coming up 2 years now on 15psi.

Maybe i'm really off base but I hardly hear about people breaking stock LT1 cranks.. its the pistons that go first.. and sometimes a rod..

So you want a built forged engine, taken out, built, then installed by the shop, your buying a new blower and there installing that to, tuned and ready to go all for 8k? hmm.

Re: Engine Rebuild For Blower

its possible.... i got an STS kit, and my motor rebuilt with all parts for just a bit less then 8K, but i went with a 355, not 383 for the extra machining work...

A buddy of mine made 574 RWHP with his Vortech blown 355 Z. No intercooler, just 10 pounds of boost and alcohol injection. His car was a stock crank car with Trick Flow rods and JE pistons with CNC stock casting heads...through a 12 bolt.

I went for the 383. Short block with rotating assy was $5k. Then the p600b was tapped out for 12psi. I went with a D1. I had 54cc chamb afr 190cc heads, so went with JE -28cc pistons. I'm running 9.5:1 with a felpro 1074. 6" eagle H beams w/ callies crank.

Hehe almost the exact same setup that I'm going for except for the callies is a eagle. I've been looking where to pick up the JE -28 cc dish pistons. Where did you get them and how much did they cost you? Thx

Yes 54cc is same as stock. Why did I do that??? Should have went with a 62 or 64cc chamber afr head. The motor is a Nu-tek short block. I think they went out of bizz. Anyway, here is piston pt. number.
Description: 170817 J.E. Blower piston
Qty: Amount: 695.00

Description: CRS6000B3D 6" forged H-beam rods
Qty: Amount: 429.00

For JE pistons, check www.cnc-motorsports.com. They have about the lowest prices.
