Electric Clutch to disengage blower when not needed?

Would it be possible to use an a/c electric clutch (maching needed) to connect and disconnect a blower when not needed?
Sorry if this has been hashed out already.

You gotta love that movie. The great V8 interceptors.

I fail to see the point, if the blower isn't needed, just don't depress the gas enough to produce boost.

Yeah, if you don't want boost, stay off the throttle.

Clutch = one more part to break. And with a supercharged car, we don't need any more complication than is absolutely necessary.

Also, a typical supercharger pulley is 2.75" - 3.33". The A/C clutches are about 4", so the blower would spin slow and build little boost.

Maybe if you used an 8 or 9 inch crank pulley it would work.

Doesn't fords super stallion use a clutch on its blower. Seems like the car is white blue and green, i've seen it at the auto fair in charlotte. I think that clutch was relatively small
