Ebay Engines

What do you guys think about some of these stoker engines offered on ebay?
http://search.ebay.com/search/search...ker&category0=

Im looking to build a fully forged 383, and was wondering if anyone has heard of any of these shops. I normally would be tentative to buy a lt1 stroker on ebay, but are these engines a good value? I'm looking for a fully forged 383 that will handle 15+ psi from this D1SC. Shooting for 650 - 700 whp. What do you all think? Is it rediculous to trust something like this on ebay?

Probably. But good parts are good parts. I wouldn't necessarily trust them to balance or assemble anything but buying the parts from the couldn't hurt.

Just my $.02

It appears that VRE (Victory Racing Engines) has some motors listed.
They're a board sponsor here.

We do have a few listed on ebay and have many more possible combinations. Please feel free to contact us to discuss an engine package that will fit your needs.

watch what you buy from ebay i lost alot of money that way. just because they put good parts in does not mean it was built correct. getting a warranty claim from an ebay engine is almost nonexistant. if you cannot talk to past customers or the builder yourself do not buy. try vre because they have aphone number and a good reputation. beware of the ebay.

I bought an LT1 motor from ebay from someone who had 1000's of good feedback, paid 3800 and got nothing. Found out later that paypal only covers 1000 in a situation like this, so I was out $2800. In other words, do NOT buy anything expensive unless you're buying from a reputable company.

Another vote for Victory over EBay.

I do agree with jerminator96 though. Buying good parts from someone is one thing.. buying an assembled engine is something else. I'd probably never buy a performance engine on EBay unless it was listed by someone i knew personally, or a company i knew had a history of building reliable engines.

I wouldn't do it. Even assuming you get the parts you think you are (and you better read the fine print, don't assume anything like a moly vs. a plain ring is one example I know of) you are risking a lot to save a few bucks. IMHO that would be an example of trying trying to get something for "nothing". It seldom works out. Pay a few bucks for reputation.
