Dyno'd my vortech yesterday

just thought id throw numbers out there for you guys to look at....my V2SQ runs 6 psi.

i stopped the run early @ 5000 rpm. the run was so i could send the sheet and PCM do madz28 to tune it. i dont like running much over 5000rpm with the blower, i cant afford to rebuild the motor anytime soon. it kinda sucks cause the horsepower and torque curve just started to shoot up when i let off.

sorry i cant figure out how to post the actual sheet. i can email it and maybe someone else can play with it and post it somewhere....

5000 rpm = 377rwhp & 393rwtq.......A/F was rich @ 10.9
4800 rpm = 350 380 A/F-10.5
4600 rpm = 330 380 10.7
4400 325 390 11.2
4200 305 380 11.7
4000 285 375 11.7

what do you guys think if i would have run it up to 5500? somewhere between 400-415rwhp? maybe more? 27 horses between 4800 & 5000 is a big jump......and the graph was just starting to get real steep.

Re: Dyno'd my vortech yesterday

Shouldnt be a problem to make 400+ when you get the A/F right, maybe he could put some more timing in there (dont know what you have now)

we started widh a save mail tune from pcm forless, and it made 510rwhp after adjusting A/F and add a little timing it showed 570rwhp...

By the time you reach 5500k rpm you should be well into the 400+rwhp range, especially if you're running that rich. There is plenty left......

Re: Dyno'd my vortech yesterday

My first dyno tune netted 420rwhp D1SC with twin i/c's 25degrees advance LT1 @ 5000rpm, then the clutch slipped/ignition brke up??
I must be too rich though, as I'm getting 10 mpg and smelling very rich. Going back for another pass with new header gaskets & Delteq or LTCC ignition.

Re: Dyno'd my vortech yesterday

i assume your D-1 is pumping out a lot more that 6psi right?

maybe after i get my PCM back from madz28 ill dyno it again and push it past 5000rpm and see what happens. i hope all goes well with the PCM tune, i hear that its hard to tune with the Vortech FMU.....i think the FMU opened up and caused it to go rich @ 4200 or so.....i dont want to go too lean now....

Re: Dyno'd my vortech yesterday

Is this a stock bottom-end car? How many miles on it?

Re: Dyno'd my vortech yesterday

Running 8psi, stock with headers, 3" back.
Not running FMU, left in box.
Using 42# Lucas green stripe injectors.
Looking for Delteq, Ltcc?

Re: Dyno'd my D1sc yesterday

Yes I'm stock. My tuner, Jim @ Turbo Connection said I could get to 500rwhp with alcohol injection $1000 added. He said it would let him add timing advance back in.

Re: Dyno'd my D1sc yesterday

You can add a maximum advance that will be ideal to your combo.. a hot cam only and a supercharger to get 500rwhp is going to be a bit tougher unless lots of boost is put in and everything is ideal...

How much boost are you running?

Re: Dyno'd my vortech yesterday

Your torque was way up, so if you had hit 5252 RPM, then your tq would have equaled your HP, with HP above Tq when RPM is greater than 5252.

Have fun! You paid for it...

Re: Dyno'd my D1sc yesterday

This thread is getting messed up.
I'm running a stock 94Z LT1 with headers and 3" cat back, D1sc twin i'cs, 42 # injectors, first dyno tune @ 420 rwhp. I think/know I'm tooo rich and I think my opti is miss behaving with blower. 8psi, 25 degrees advance. I think with leaner tune, delteq/Ltcc ignition, converter knocked out, maybe 440rwhp, with alcohol injection tuner says 500, maybe he's a saleman?

Re: Dyno'd my D1sc yesterday

yeah it is a lot of torque......i never really thought about that.

forgot to mention the motor has 76000mi on it. thats why i dont like running the revs too high with the blower.

Ion at madz28.com has my PCM right now and i asked him to keep the Air/Fuel as close to 11.7 all the way through the RPM range, that should give me some more HP too.

i didnt really plan on dynoing it again but id like to see what the A/F graph looks like after Ion's tune. maybe i will.

im paranoid about my motor going KABOOM......she's my baby.

PS why did the title of this thread change from "Dyno'd my vortech yesterday" to "Dyno'd my D1sc yesterday"

by not revving it up, you're not even using what the blower has to offer. Why even have the blower at that point, especially if you're so concerned about blowing up the motor. Anf if you want it to last long at all, stop messing with having someone tune it via the mail. Ion is a great tuner I'm sure, but there's no way he'll ever get it running it's best without having the car on a dyno, with a wideband, and scanner in the car with him. thats the only way to tune
