if there are significant gains where are all those 700rwhp LT1s with Aftermarket heads?

As for the numbers, I think you will find the majority of people with blown LT1 applications attaining power levels over 550 RWHP are using aftermarket heads.

It sounds like on this matter we will have to agree to disagree.
Im pretty close to 550 rwhp on just stock unported lt1 heads

I could be wrong here but since there are guys pushing 500rwhp N/A now with ported LT1 heads I'm guessing to make the gains worth it for aftermarket castings would be had with an aftermarked intake such as a super vic in a FI application. Supervic + ported TFS heads on a 383ci with a
D1SC might = 700rwhp?

Just a thought

yeah, but we are talking a lot of money...and still i am sure my car could have put down 700+rwhp on 18psi of boost instead of 14psi and 640rwph..this is with STOCK PORTED LT1 Heads and LT1 Intake......

Yes lots of $$$ for sure. But for a mere 60+rwhp I would think a little N20 on top of the 14psi would be a wayyyy smarter route to go vs Bare TFS castings ($900) + porting and valvetrain ($1500+) and the intake ($1000?)

Besides, if your looking for all out power why not go for a PTK with a T88? I think I read somewhere a guy pushed 1000rwhp with ported LT1 castings and a T88 or T76.

Yea, the hell with aftermarket castings. Give me more boost!

I have seen 700 RWHP and 640RW TQ out of a 383 LT1 with GASKET MATCHED Trickflow heads, ported LT1 intake with a 58mm, air to water intercooler (I think I remember them saying a FMIC would be better for the application) 236/248 around .600 lift 114 LSA spinning to 6700 maxing out the D1SC at around 61000 RPM, 12 lbs through a 12-bolt and a 6-speed.

I have seen similiar setups on many cars.
I also seen a LT1 with a D1SC Twin Intercooler setup, with a custom grind, 383 with some ported Larry Mauex AFR 195 heads, with a 58mm, through a 4L60E spinning the D1SC to about 60000 RPM reving to 6200 make 692RWHP and they were doing more tuning to make over 700.

I do think heads are important along with a nice cam, but in my opinion I have seen many cars make awsome power by just spinning the blower harder.
The D1SC flows 1400 CFM from memory thats more than Vortechs T-Trim, S-trim, P1SC, etc. The ones that flow more air are the YSI, and F1 that people like to use.
Just saying you can take a built bottom end LT1 with a cam and bolt-ons spinning the D1SC hard and make 600RWHP using Stock LT1 heads, I have no doubt about that.

There are too many variables on Blower cars, but a lot of the times if your bottom end can handle it I would just spin the blower hard with a nice intercooler and enjoy it. If I was on a budget I would skip the heads for later. $2500 Plus on heads gets expensive and is not worth the big gains like it would be for a N/A setup. But hey, if you got the money go for it b/c it will only help

I agree with that, for the safety of the motor on a Blower setup, I would look at a Intercooler Spray kit using C02 or nitrous. Meth kits are nice and so is nitrous, but you must tune around these, which to me is a pain since a good tuner is about 6 hours away.
With a NX intercooler spray kit your not going to make rediculus power like you would with Nitrous into the motor or Meth, but you don't have to tune around the Spray kit since it just lowers your IAT's and thats it. Bob at Exotic Performance plus used one of these kits not to long ago and lowerd the temp 40 degrees and picked up a solid 50RWHP on a FMIC car.

If I remember right your made 52X on a MUSTANG DYNO, thats over 550RWHP on a dynojet, how hard where you spinning the T-Trim??
I remember talking to Victory about your car, you like that cam in that thing, interesting choice huh I bet with some tweaking we can break 600RWHP on a Dynojet with some more tweaking. What are your full mods???

Thanks for all the responses guys. I would rather invest in a aftermarket computer for now instead of dumping more money in the heads. I still have to put on my FMIC when I have time. By the way I somehow damaged my impeller on the T-trim so I had to send it to Vortech to have it rebuilt. I was only spinning it around 60-61K, 5-6K more than max rpm for that blower. I'm really not sure what happened, but there is no impingment damage on the throttle body or the outlet of the blower. So I'm not sure what happened to the impeller. I guess thats why I was seeing only about 14-15#'s. See ya!

Their kit is made for a T76.. T88 will need reworking. Definitely a T88 would be monstrous hp/tq.

There really arent that many external mods, just Victories bottom end. In addition to that, ive got slp shorty headers, the t-trim and aftercooler kit, and an electric waterpump. everything else is stock. im not sure the size of the pulley on there but its only on a 6 rib belt and wouldnt go over 10 psi. Im thinking it either was spinning, or the cheapo vortech bypass valve is leaking.

Which bypass the race or the standard???
I hear that the Vortech Mondo Bypass is Great, but I don't know if that is the one you have. Reason is I have that bypass in my shop waiting to be put on

Here's a link to a thread I started a few months ago; http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ht=cam+hurting

Several people here put strong arguments that Heads would make a significant difference for a FI car (the car in the thread being mine).

you guys are all talking about superchrged applications... wouldnt a nice set of aftermarket heads work wonders for a turbo app becuase of the exhaust flow making the intake flow better

More airflow = more power (properly tuned) every time!
I'm not saying it's worth the money for a small gain, but better heads will make more power.

I am not as familiar with the turbo setup's as I am the supercharger setups, however I am quite sure what Steve stated above is true, (yes it will help you). As for seing greater gains than that of a Supercharged car, I am not sure. I would guess that they would help it out more, as the turbo's feed directly off of the exhaust from the heads.
