Dyno results from new exhaust.

Previously my exhaust was 3.5 right off the turbo, back to a modified SLP two on the left muffler and tailpipes. (muffler was modified to have a 3.5 inlet). The wastegate pipe dumped into the downpipe about 10inches after the turbo.

My new exhaust is 3.5in downpipe until the trans crossmember where it steps up to 4 inch. From there it goes back to a Magnaflow muffler and mufflex style 4in single tip. The wastegate pipe runs along the downpipe until it steps up to 4 inch, then the wastegate pipe merges in.

It previously made 760rwhp 740rwtq @19psi.

Tonight it made 760rwhp 777rwtq @19psi.

It didn't pick up any peak horsepower, but it gained torque, and through the midrange it's up about 100 rwhp/tq. (I think because the larger exhaust allowed the turbo to spool faster).

I also (accidentally) made a run at 11 psi, and it did-

614rwhp 587rwtq.

Intake temps were starting out at around 65 degrees, and ending up at 140 by the end of the run. I think I might try a larger air/air intercooler, or make the switch to air/water.

Great numbers! It's amazing to see the benefits of a change that most people would overlook.

BTW, what turbo are you running?

Thanks, I am running the turbo you were asking about. Innovative GT80 R-trim. (didn't get a chance to respond to your post).

Pics are here if you're interested.-

INTMD8,

Very nice indeed.

Can you tell me about your exhaust? I'd like to see some pictures if I could... I'm having trouble running my exhaust and would like to see how the experts do it.

I don't intend to start a turbo vs. supercharger argument, but didn't you make 634 rwhp with an S-trim Vortech at around 11 psi.

Obviously an S-trim isn't capable of 19 psi and 760 rwhp, but is interesting that at an equivalent boost level the S-trim did slightly better.

Am I missing something? Cam swap? Intake manifold swap?

Might have been true, but I'd bet the area under the curve doesn't look the same.

Thats some good power out of an Strim though.

Jesse_Boyer- Are you looking for pics of the turbo system, or the exhaust system? I don't have pics of the after-turbo exhaust yet, but I will soon.

engineermike- You are correct, the s-trim did 634rwhp at 12psi (and it was maxed out). The s-trim is more efficient at that lb per min/pressure ratio. Not to mention I had an air/water intercooler with the vortech which works much better on a dyno than air/air.

I agree. I just thought the peak power numbers were interesting.

I'm looking for post-turbo piping pictures please. As soon as you get some good shots, please let me know. I need to build my new exhaust as soon as possible.

So much for Turbo XS's theory that the exhaust on turbo cars needs to neck down in size the farther back you go.
