Double Roller timing chain and ati superdamper
Double Roller timing chain and ati superdamper
Hello Guys...
I was just checking...
I installed my double chain today finally... I see that the ati hub is much longer than the stocker...
As you know from other threads i am using a BB hub OD with SB ID.
The question...
I noticed that the hub will not be "filled" totally with the snout, which means that the ati hub is longer than the stocker. Will this have any negative effect regarding the tension i will be putting on the snout?
THe longer or the more length i have between the belt, the more stress i put (more torque) on the snout.
I would have thought that the single chain would have given me more snout to push the hub in, but then again, i guess its desinged that way because if not i would have a misaligned serpentine belt.
Any thoughts on this?

The hub is longer because the balancer sits back over the hub..... the stock balancer sits forward of the stock hub.
In the end the serpentine is in the same location as will be the blower pulley & therefore the same leverage on the crank.
The overall width of all lower timing chain sprockets are the same or every car would have belt alignment issues when you change the timing set.
