Copper head gaskets ?

I thinking of using a set of copper head gaskets but my block is not O-ringed. Will I have a problem with them leaking or will I have to tighten them all the time, SCE gaskets

All copper require an ORING, at least that is what one person told me. I learned the hard way. If in doubt always call the manufacturer.

When I was talking to them trying to figure out my issue I finally told the guy "Well maybe I should have o-ringed it, would that help?" I got a /facepalm over the phone.

Looks like some of them have compression rings in them. You need a way to seal the combustion chamber - either o rings or a gasket with a compression ring. Straight copper will not on a flat surface.

**Edited my response so it doesn't confuse anyone in the future looking for this info.

Thumbs down

I called SCE this morning. They have an ISC Titan gasket P/N S11064 that works well without O-rings. It has built in o-rings and seals around all the water jackets. But the one Jay rich has looks like the solid Pro copper gaskets.

I guess I stand corrected.

I did not have the sce - I had the Flatout rubber coated gaskets. Rubber coating dissapeared and they are the ones that I was told requried an oring.

Titans look like a better choice. After my coppers I went to Commetics and they sealed everywhere.

My point still stands though, always verify.

Just use gaskets made from Unobtainium and call it a day.
