Can I rebuild my supercharger?

I was wondering how difficult it is to rebuild one yourself. I have an assortment of bearing pullers and a press. Also many tools and the facility to do it. I'm just not sure what all is involved. I would imagine it isn't that difficult. Its for an SN-type charger. I'm looking at the rebuild kits on Superchargerrebuilds.com. Not sure if anyone has any other recomendations. Thanks alot Nathan

I would personally send it to the manufacturer, as they usually have a warranty they offer.

Yeh, I've looked at paradise wheels and everything. 700$ with a warranty. I'm a poor Tech. student right now so I was looking for a cheaper possibility. It looks like it might be better to just save a while longer and get it done by a professional. Thanks - Nathan

Re: Can I rebuild my supercharger?

Yes you can rebuild the SC yourself. ATI ot vortech both are charge an outrage amount of $ for new seal and or bearing. I opened up my D1SC replaced the seal. Inside is nothing is complicate about. If you need the seal Number, let me know. At your local auto part store will not be able to help you find the right seal or bearing. I went to a industrial seal&bearing supply and trace down the part# and the the dimension of the seal and get it from there. With that part#. You can get it from NAPA. Without that they will not be able to get you the right one.

Re: Can I rebuild my supercharger?

I found what looks like a great deal for anyone looking to rebuild an SN-type supercharger. Superchargerrebuilds.com is selling a bearing and seal kit for $75. The person I talked to via e-mail said they are still waiting on their supplier for availability and price for the special races and other parts. From what I am aware most rebuild only require bearings and seals though.
