Look around for a cc305 on a 114. They were pretty common a few years back and you might find one cheap.

here is a blower cam that was setup to run 6-8 psi on a stock bottom end with stock heads and intake

Comp Cam 224/236 502/520 114 LSA $230.00 Shipped

This cam will out perform the cc305 hands down.

Steve.

that ebay cam is a custom thats a little smaller on the intake side then a 305 right? i was really hoping to find a used cam for around 100 since i gota spend another 125 on lifters and 100 on a timing set and gaskets but ill keep you in mind. am i going to have problems with my valve springs or anything with any of these cams?

yes.

FWIW, a cc503 can be had for about 150, and you can run kmotion k-750s with them, those are about 120/set. just shim them .045

the 503 will work alright. Will it be optimal? not quite, will it work good? yes.

I run a cc305 with 10+psi with cnc'd heads and full hooker exhaust and its a tire shredder with 3.73 gears and a 3k stall. Out of boost, is feels like a decently modified lt1, little rumble with slight lope at idle. Just enough to draw in your prey. Its a great off the shelf cam that doubles as a blower cam. You should be able to find one for 150 or less. With 6 psi though, I would stick with something on a 114lsa, or to be more "correct", something without a lot of overlap, since you'll bleed off boost. I had a cc306 with about 6-7 psi and a 150 shot. I swapped out the 306 for the 305, and swapped head units to an s-trim with 10 psi. The smaller cam and 10psi boost feels faster than the 306 with 150 shot and 6psi. The downfall of a cc305 cam in my opinion on ported heads is the lack of lobe lift. You need to get 1.6 rockers to get you in the mid .500 range to make the most out of ported heads.

I finally got rid of the 502 -it is an ok boost cam and for someone hurting for money a good option. I'm going from a 70mm to an 83mm so I wanted to be able to spin the motor a little higher.

Stocker is always an option in a bind.

true, you could get a stock lt1 cam for peanuts, but I think if yer replacing the cam, you gotta move forward. If you could get one for free, then buy some 1.6 rockers to get your lift numbers up, you could make out pretty good. There was a guy selling a boost cam on ls1tech that had nice lift numbers and decent duration like 227, but that was 2 weeks ago, check over there.

Thats the one I was talking about. It might be a tad much for what yer doing. I was considering using it for my setup because the added lift might net me another 10-20 hp. From my exp and what ive read, it seems the larger cam doesnt help much at low boost levels. I would probably suggest the 305 cam or the 503 cam at most for efficiency purposes.

I highly recommend 16 rockers. Any less and all the valves won't open.

Comp recommends the 26915 or 26918 spring. I believe the 918 is used for 1.6 rockers but you may want to call and double check.
