Bumper Support

I was wondering how much sag are people getting from there front bumper after removing the front bumper support to make room for a front mount intercooler. If you are getting sag then what have you done to fix the problem. Thanks in advance.

Haven't finished mine yet, but I have seen Jordon's setup quite often, and there doesn't seem to be any real sag. He fabricated support bars also though (for the front clip)

I was thinking about purchasing that brace but I wanted to know how much sagging I would get without any support. Thanks for the info.

You could just take some steel and make some braces, but my 98 Formula needs nothing in the front but the rear bumper cover has a few braces.

When I first did my front mount and had the intercooler vertical it looked like this http://www.geocities.com/marc94z/cpmetal3.html and I used some 1" square stock w/ 1" round foam insulation.

I never noticed any sag and when I angled the intercooler to allow for more airflow to the radiator I did away with the top support. You can see in these pictures that the bottom of the intercooler is pretty close to the bottom/front part of the bumper cover. http://www.geocities.com/marc94z28/r...erpostion.html It looks a little hacky in these pictures but I was lazy and only chopped up the old brace and just fabbed up a couple of supports to bolt the angled intercooler to.

The rest of the intercooler relocation pictures are at:

Very nice car. Where did you get the screen for the front bumper?

I was actually going to have Griffin design me an intercooler. Jim was not great at getting back to me on things so I decided to go with a Spearco intercooler. Griffin definetely makes a nice intercooler but there customer service sucks. Did you ever get any IAT reading?
