Boost Gauge Question

Finally, got my car running and when I started it up I noticed the boost gage was at 0. That tells me that there is a vaccum leak somewhere in the system. I noticed when I hit the throttle the needle would move into boost. Currently the interior is apart because I just removed the airbags and heater core. I am thinking I may have put a hole in the vaccum line or kinked it when I removed the A-pillar. Has anyone noticed and increase or decrease in vaccum when going from a twin high flow setup to a big frount intercooler? The thing that bothers me the most about the gage is when I shut the car off it goes from 0 to 5 psi of boost. In the past when I shut the car off it went to 20 in. of vaccum. Could this be a faulty gage? Thanks in advance.

If everything is off, it should read "0" or very nearby. The gauge has a large blip denoting 0 and my car sits on the south side of it when the engine is off. The only power is for the light. When I am in boost, I typically add a pound or two to compensate for the gauge error. I have a combo Vacuum (-30) and Boost (+20) gauge.

If your gauge is not at 0, then it is bad.

Yeah when I shut my car off it goes from 0 to 5psi of boost. In the past it would go below 0. Is there anyway to get a boost gage recalibrated? Oops I forgot to mention that there is a clamp missing at my TB.

I would assume its a bad guage too. When I shut my car off, my guage goes right to 0 and stays there (Always did). If I have the blower hooked up and I hit blip the throttle at idle, it would go into 3 psi of boost real quick and then return to vacuum with the car running but it Always shoots back to 0 when I shut the car off and it stays at 0. I think it might be a bad guage. You might want to check the back of the guage, mabee there is a **** on in the (inside) shown on the back of the guage that you can adjust it somewhat so it zeros out . I think either my FP guage or My Boost guage had some kinda **** that would allow you to adjust it so you Zero it out if needed, I am just not sure if its the boost guage or my Electric FP guage that had that little adjuster **** but you may want to check that first.

Thx,
Claude

I have one you can borrow if you wanna just check and be sure. I live in southfield or warren depending if I'm at my dorm or the parents house. Let me know if I can be of any use.

Hate to see you drop $50 for nothing.

Thanks for the offer but I am 100% sure that is the problem after talking to the techs at AUtometer. Plus I know where you live Down the road from Tony.

Well as long as you don't tell them what's cooking in the garage, then it's all good.

Also, since you know where I live, it gives you no excuse not to stop by with your ride once it's done.

I wish I could drive my car that far but it is not a street car. FInished up alot of it today. I am waiting for the top dash piece to come so I can install it and be done. I am picking up my slicks on Tuesday and having them mounted on my Bogarts. Then I should be ready for NOrwalk.

There are not any openings. Plus there is a waiting list. I am sure a few people will not make it out so there may be some openings. WHat all do you have left to do on your car?
