Blitz IC pics

This came off my buddy's Skyline. It required very little modification to make work. I got it all fabbed up in less than 3 hours, including cutting and welding. It's a little pricey if you buy it new, but it fits almost perfectly:

Next up is the piping!

Looking good, what are the final specs on the motor and what kind of numbers are you shooting for?

It's just going to be a 355 with forged 9.5:1 JEs and the stock crank and rods. I'll build a better motor next year. Shooting for 500 at the wheels out of the gate and about 600 with FAST/tuning/fuel system. We'll see what happens when I build the motor next year.

This is my turbo:http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=817
It's also a Skyline leftover. My car is going to all JDM!

Looks good. I think you'll be surprised how well the 355 works in that application. Mine's going to pull close to 700 on the next dyno day... You can see my spearco peeking out here. This is before we plumbed it. Ended up with 3" all the way on the intercooler side and 4" on the intake side. We mounted it a little more forward than yours and got the washer tank back in. Gonna use it for alky/water injection...

Good luck with the project.

Here's a question for the rest of you that have already front-mounted your intercooler. Are you using anything to support your bumper? I set the bumper up just to make sure it fits and it seems like it's going to sag without the impact absorber in there.

...BLITZ...

Nice.

I like where your going with your setup. Please keep us updated when you get the chance.

How much of the setup are you doing yourself?

"355 with a turbo" just has a certain ring to it.....

Thanks.

Mine had a sagging problem ever since I bought it. I made additional supports to prevent the sagging. In 97' GM changed an upper support, I pretty much duplicated that and mine holds fine.

I will be running no support so I will probably encounter alot of flex. To add to your question has anyone modified the bumper cover with sheetmetal to ensure all the air is distributed to the intercooler?

I have my bumper cover cut like yours but all the air is not going directly into the intercooler. What about the sides. Also what are your latest hp numbers? Did you eventually go with the cogs?

We burned up the tranny at 700 rwtq... Got an "everything possible" 4L60e coming from Art Carr and we'll get it back on the dyno. The cogs are on and we're getting 14+ lbs of boost. Tuner projects ~700rwhp/tq. We'll see...

We're not having any detonation problems so far, so I haven't given any thought to directing the flow better. Seems to be fine. I am thinking about a/c delete and moving the radiator forward away from the cogs... Hopefully I'll have pics after this weekend, if the tranny shows up...

I am pretty surprised that all you are getting out of the cogs is 14lbs of boost. You will not see the full potential of the intercooler on the dyno. You will notice it when you going 130 mph through the traps.

I've got a smaller pulley if 700 rwhp isn't enough...

The goal now is consistency and keeping everything together. The original plan was to pull 600 rwhp and keep it in the low 11s at 5800 ft/altitude. The 12-rib pulley was slipping on the dyno and we were getting inconsistent results, so I went with the cogs. The cogs have proven much more consistent and gained over 50 hp on the same setup. If everything goes well with the new tranny and the current setup, we may take it to some sea-level events and see what it will do.
