Which is the better supercharger: Powerdyne or Vortech with intercooler
SubscribeHi, I drive a '96 Z28 with six speed and I wanted to buy a supercharger in the near future. I looked around an saw the Vortech S Series, for abour $3500. But there's also the Powerdyne for about the same money. Are there any differneces and which one is better. My car is a daily driver and has some minor mods, like flowmaster exhaust, 52mm TB, Granatelli MAF, B&M STS, No cats, HPPIII, K&N FIPK.

Vortech's better, hands down.
Procharger versus Vortech is arguable, though.

This topic has been brought up many times in "Forced Induction". A search would turn up a ton of good info...

I had a procharger. Been there done that.
I now have a vortech which I like a bit better. The air-to-water intercooler works better IMO and the system just makes more power throughout the rpm range. The v2 blower makes less than half the noise of the P600B unit.
You don't necessarily need the aftercooler on a stock motor or with lower boost, say 6 psi. It's intent was for higher boost situations, 10-12 psi and modified motors.
Of course, your $3500 price will increase to around $4500 if you include the aftercooler.

Between vortec and powerdyne, definetly vortec. If you are willing to spend 3500 on a blower, go with procharger. You wont have to punch a hole in the oil pan if you go with the p1sc and its intercooled. I got mine for $3300 from rpm outlet. Makes more power than any other blower in the same price range because it runs a little more boost with the intercooler.

That's what I said same price with intercooler and boasts a much larger power gain...
