best way to add power??
best way to add power??
i have a 99 ss, m6, that is pretty much stock, save for a lid and muffler, and has close to 60K miles. i recently came to the close of my warranty and want to add power to the car, but after doing many searches, and reading thru some different points of views and arguements, i feel like im in the same place as when i started. as far as i know, i could either 1) supercharge it (w/intercooler - live in az) 2) turbo the thing (would still need an intercooler) or 3) built n/a motor.
i like the idea of the simple power adder, but it seems like there are more reliability issues with that. also, i have to deal with 91 octane as well. supercharger kits and turbo kits run about the same amount of money, and have relatively the same output as well. my car is a daily driver, and i plan on keeping it that way, so im not so sure that boost is the best way to go, unless i learn something new from someone here.
that leads me to the idea that i could get a built motor for roughly the same cost, maybe a little more, and have a stronger motor that if i wanted to later on i could do some sort of f/i kit on it.
i guess what i have to ask is what sort of mods are the most popular and most common for a daily driver, to take me into the neighboorhood of 400 rwhp?? stroker kit? rods, pistons, p/p, heads, cam, tune?
i just need to be pointed in the right direction (and also a good builder in the tucson/phoenix area)
thanks for all your help!!

Re: best way to add power??
if alls your looking for is 400rw....lol...you can do that with a set of headers and a cam. my friends 99 Z makes just under 400rw..and he has LTheaders, exhaust, LS6Intake and a small cam.
