Be aware of WHONXT!! Scam alert!!

I made a deal with this guy, who claims his name is Jared for the parts listed below in the copy and paste from his email to me. All of this took place over the last 2 weeks. Mostly because I am currently in Iraq with the Army and can not access internet every day. I had my wife gather the money for this purchase and was just waiting on "Jared" to send the "verifcation" email with a copy of his Driver's License and home address so I could send the cashier's check. When I informed him that I was leary of sending that large amount of money without going through Paypal, I need some insurance he jumped ship.

Well, now his story is that he had to sell the parts to a third party because he was "offered" more money!! He made me the deal and then backed out. My question is, did he back out because he was trying to scam someone and when I wanted to see to much info about him he decided to jump ship.

BUYER BEWARE!!

EMAIL #1

I believe this was the previous offer for the D1, Front mount I/C Kit, D/S loop, D/S:

$3600-(Charger kit , FMIC kit, Drivehsaft loop free, includes driveshaft at cost of $100.00)

To add the headers to the total I'll give you them for $150.00 instead of the 350.00

Total would then be $3750+ shipping for everything. Shipping won't be too bad, we could send them in individual pieces to save money. i.e. charger kit, them FMIC kit, then headers, then loop/D/S. I could send it all the same day, just several pieces. I could do a money order or a paypal. I am hesitant to do paypal because they take 3% of the total money transfer, then after that I can only take out 500 per month. I need the money to pay off my wife's car, and some other misc stuff. If you want to pay by money order I can send you my drivers license copy, and give you some more info to feel better. What do you think about this deal? I am trying to help out with the other stuff sice you would be buying the supercharger.

EMAIL #2

Hey Mike,

I'm sorry but I decided to accept payment from another person on the D1 kit. He offered me asking price plus shipping and I couldn't turn that down. I also sold the headers for $450 shipped, so those are gone as well. I would have rather sold everything to you, but I believe it would have been asking too much money. Unfortunately, I had to go with what gave me more money as my wife isn't working and I have a small child to care for. I do have the driveshaft and loop if you still want those. I will sell them to you for $150 shipped if you want. If you really want a D1SC kit, I have a buddy who is a Procharger Dealer and I can get you a brand new kit from him for dealer pricing plus a very small amount of money. I'm not allowed to say exactly how much dealer pricing, but it is real cheap compared to retail. I can also build you an FMIC intercooler kit for real cheap also. Hope to help you out somehow as I respect what you do for our country. Thanks,

Jared

No I was lucky and he didn't get my money. He wanted me to send it via a money order, but he would never send the information I requested like a copy of his driver's license. He actually offered the copy at first and when I said I would like to have it, he never would send it and then came up with the story that he got more money out of it.

Give it up man,
I never finalized a price with you, never sent you my payment information, my paypal address, or even asked for money to be sent. If I was a scammer I wouldn't even offer up my driver's license or my home phone number. I am not interested in giving away parts for free just because you are buying one of my parts. I am not a charity, so stop trying to be an *** about this. You are mad because I didn't sell to you. I understand. But don't accuse me of things that aren't true please. Maybe a MOD will see what you are doing and feel the same as me.
I took paypal for the deal by the way. I got my price so I could fathom loosing the money to paypal and still be okay since I wasn't giving away any parts for free.

I am disappointed that one of my military brethren would stoop to trash talking in my favorite forum "Forced Induction". Remember the Army values they teach us in basic training? People miss out on deals all the time here.

I'm also disappointed that I even have to address these posts when I never took any of his money, or finalized a deal. I even told him I would send my information once I had a deal finalized just for this reason. I even offered him help on a brand new kit as my buddy is an ATI dealer and I was going to ask him to sell this guy a new kit for cost plus a small amount of money to cover shipping. That was in a private email off this board that I could post up if necessary. I guess everybody see things differently, and some see that as a reason to get mad.

No trash talking here. Just facts. The deal was finalized, I was told that Paypal was unacceptable because they took out the 3%. When I asked to verify his info (He did offer his DL, but when I took him up on supplying me a copy, that is when he decided that "I Need to sell to someone else at a higher price". So either there is a possible scam going on or his word on a deal is no good.

The MODS can delete if they want to. I am just letting fellow F-bod brethern here know what happened to me so they don't get caught up in a possible scam.

If you read the attached emails you can see for yourself.

This is the last response I will dignify you with. Deal was never finalized for a price. In your last email to me you said we could go $3700 shipped, I never said yes.
Here it is to refresh your memory:

Jared,

Just wanted to see if we could get this deal finalized. Thanks.
Mike

As you failed to see in my note was the FACT that I said once we can agree on price, I'll send my info. We never agreed upon a price, hence no info from me. You replied to this as stated above last night. I never asked for your money, accepted it, or even finalized a price. Move on, get a kit from somebody else. Or is it you cant buy a D1SC kit, FMIC,Hooker long tube headers, Custom drivehsaft, d/s loop from anybody else for the price you were trying to get me to agree on? Either way, leave everybody including me here alone on this. It won't get you anything for your car by trying to blame me for not giving you my stuff cheap enough.

I am not trying to stir a stink or trash up the forum with he said/she said BS. I am just trying to inform the people here of the shady dealings that this guy is trying or tried to do. His story constantly changes and in my opinion is out to scam someone.

#1 He origally stated he was selling the kit to pay for his truck. Then now it is because his wife is out of work and needs the money.

#2 In the post on the FOR SALE forum, he said that he never gave me dibs, but here is the email that states just that from him.

Hey David,

I will get pics to you for these parts. The fuel pumps are strapped to the fuel pump "arm" inside the gas tank. It's real easy to do, using waterproof zip ties. They are joined together via fuel hose and simply use the stock fuel lines to deliver the fuel. These are still in the gas tank in my car which is at a shop, not my house. I'll need some time to remove those for pics. As for the blower kit, I'll take pics and focus on the impeller blades so you can see that it is perfect. Shipping is hard for me to guess until everything is boxed up, but I don't think it will be too much due to the weight of all these parts. I'll send eveything insured only due to the value of these parts. I sent some wheels and tires mounted before for $120.00. I bet it could be done for reasonable price. Can you give me some time to get the pics sent as I am traveling from DEnver to Colo. Springs for work during the day, and it will be hard to get to the shop until prob. Wednesday or Thursday? You have dibs on this if you want it. Thanks,

Jared

#3 We did agree on the price and when I asked for info to make sure that I could trust this guy and to have something in case something went wrong with the transaction, he failed to produce it and then all of a sudden decided that he sold it to someone else. Here is where I accepted his orignal offer.

Jared,

If you would like, I will take the deal on your original offer of everything shipped for $3700.
Mike

I am not trying to bash someone because I have nothing else to do. I have been a member here since 2000 and you can look at all my old post and see that I have never stirred any trouble. I feel that this guy is shady and will let the members here make there own judgement.

There are 3 sides to every story...My side, your side, and the truth. You decide.

If the MODS feel that this is inappropiate, please delete and that will be the end.

Mike

It's a shame you didn't get the deal you thought you would, but no one was scammed. That's a harsh word to use and a little, over the top for what happened here.
A year ago I tried buying a used nitrous kit for cheap from this site. Talked to the guy mulitiple times over a 6 month period. In the end he still said it was going to me, but guess what, it never happened. So what, life goes on, and I don't bash him for it.
