ATI Intercooler with a Vortech?

I've heard of people using the ATI two or three core intercooler with the vortech. Is this possible with the fabrication of piping. Does anyone know exactly what is involved. Please don't let your advice be limited to the question above. My delima is I'm looking for a way to intercool my system but the aftercooler is so high I'm looking elsewhere. I like the spearco intercoole JeffB_94z is running except it takes the place of the air conditioning condensor. Any advice on what to do or places to look would be helpful.

Thanks,
Justin

You could customize the tubing to go down to the intercooler which shouldn't be much of a problem, although it will be difficult doing the tubing from the discharge pointing up to the front of the car. Also I am not sure if the S-trim head unit can be rotated on the bracket but if you could make the discharge point downwards you will have no problems at making the tubing for a front mount intercooler

You can put it in the front nose, have to cut the fram support(practically all of it) or you can also mount it under the front of the car although that makes ground clearence an issue.

I know guys that have used PVC piping from home depot to fabricate the piping setup needed to use a ATI intercooler. Other ways are to go to a muffler shop and used the big truck pipe and get that fabricated. Don't forgrt that you will see lower boost pressure at the motor, but it is made up by it being a cooler charge than before, and you can always "pulley up" to get back to former boost pressures with the added benefit of the charged air being much cooler. Also look at the big rig(semi's) places for the rubber hoseing and stuff to help connect the different pipe connections together. Since they run turbos and intercoolers on the trucks it is very easy to find different sized elbows and rubber tubing that you can modify to work. Hope this helps.

I am not 100% sure put I have heard that on my system that if I ran without a intercooler it would be 10-12 psi, understand that I have a 7-10 psi system. So the boost lost is about 2-3 psi for a 5-7 psi system(just guessing). I am sure it gets into the most cfm that the two or three core can handle before it becomes a bottleneck, and to get that info you have to call ATI. Sorry that I could not be more specific.

Thanks for the replies, I know about the prssure drop. And the system isn't going to incorperate a s-trim anymore it'll be a YS-trim so I'm sure turning the blower around is out of the question. rskrause told me one time I think some guys mounted one under the headlight . I sure Rich know what he's talking about. The pvc pipe would work but it would disrupt the airflow where the junctions are. As far as piping goes I'm just going to order pipe from a mandrelbending.com or something like that.

Thanks,
Justin

I am running a t-trim with a procharger IC. Not hard to incorporate the IC into the induction at all. Let me know, i can get you pics if you need them...
