ATI damper/ASP pulley
ATI damper/ASP pulley
Does anyone know the part number for the ATI damper that will fit the ASP 7" pulley? I am able to get my hands on the ASP pulley for a good deal but I know that the ATI piece is necessary. I called ATI today and the guy said that teh regular damper for an LT1 is all I would need for this. Isn't there some machining required to mate the two pieces?
I plan to run a meth kit for my S-trim after hearing and reading good stuff about the quality kits. I will go without an intercooler for now.
Thanks for the help

Not sure about the 7" ASP pulley. I'm running an ATI dampener with a 7" Vortech pulley and I had to have about 1/2" machined off the back of the pulley to get it to line up with the blower pulley. Got my dampener from Lonnie. Here's the one I got: 2.25" OD LT1 ATI balancer shell 6.78" 10% UD Aluminum 1993-97 Part# SHELL6ACAMARO Price $299. Lonnie has excellent customer service, some of the best in the business. Are you running the big snout hub to go with it? Hope this helps, Rob. PS, the part # is Lonnies not ATI's.
Good info. It looks like Vortech's 7" pulley is different from ASP's?? Researching, I initially thought vortech no longer had these but I think it listed at summit. The one I'm going to pick up is apparently already machined. I won't be running the big snout hub though. I wonder if the balancer you got will end up being differrent from the one I need.
I think it should be the same one. Yeah Vortech no longer makes the 7" pulley, it came with my T-trim. The big snout hub it nice, but a pain in the *** as far as either machining the old cover or buying the one that ATI makes for $250. But it's a beast.
Do you know if your ASP pulley was made for a stock damper or ATI unit? I believe ASP makes both versions and if it was made for the ATI, then the guys you talked to is right. It will bolt right up and line up if its the 7" ASP LTI pulley for the ATI damper. If not, then you'll probably need to do some some stuff to get it to fit and line up right.

Update and Question:
Well, now I have an ATI balancer along with my ASP pulley. The bolt holes appear to line up correctly. My question, however is, when you place the balancer inside of the pulley, should the face of both be flush? When I seat the balancer inside, it sits a little less than a 1/2". Is that fine or must it be flush?

The ASP Pulley mounts to the face of the ATI damper. I would have to look at mine for sure, but the pulley sits flush against it from what I can recall.
