ATI bypass valve (vent to atmosphere only) questions/info
Re: ATI bypass valve (vent to atmosphere only) questions/info
Bypass valves should be matched to the airflow of the compressor. PSI has nothing to do with it. Their job is to dump the airflow of the compressor when you remove the load. 10 psi on a 350 is quite a bit different in airflow from say 10 psi on a 454. An ATI ProFlow valve is good up to about an F1 anything larger should use the RaceValve which is available in an open and recirculating discharge with an oval tube fitting.

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread but this is a related question...
How bad is it to vent already metered air to the atmosphere? I realize this will create a temp rich condition, and that this is completely dependent on how much boost/cfm you are moving. But say on a Vortech S-trim running 7psi, on a stock Lt1, would venting the already metered air to atmosphere be detrimental enough to cause unstable conditions, or adverse enough effects that you wouldn't advise doing so?
Thanks,

The engine could / probably will die. Terrible idle, fuel fouled plugs, poor throttle transition. The bypass is open anytime you aren't at wide open throttle.

FWIW, it took me under an hour to move the MAF to the pressure side of my Vortech kit. I cut some material off of both the vortech metal elbow and the plastic supercharger discharge tube. However, it took some time to get a solid fit/seal. This was on a non-Aftercooled setup.

Yeah, I started a related thread...sorted all this out...I will be doing the same, removing material and running the maf blow-through...
