For anyone with a supercharger setup

I am looking at going supercharged, but since this is my daily driver, i want to keep it reliable. I was looking at a procharger setup and like what i see so far..

My question is this, is there going to be reliability issues running like 5 psi on a blower? or will i have to build the engine a bit to make the 400+ hp and keep it reliable?

Re: For anyone with a supercharger setup

if you only want 400 horsepower, go with a LE 2 cam/heads setup

Yeah, I want 400-450, mainly because i need this thing to be drivable every day...but i also want to have some fun with it....I figure between 400 and 450 at the wheels is enough to blow the doors off of basically anything on the street but low enough to where im not running into major engine issues...

Re: For anyone with a supercharger setup

every car is different, there are guys that have run superchargers on the stock bottom end for many miles without problems. That being said, in theory no amount of forced induction will be "reliable" on a 10.5:1 CR 2 bolt main stock bottom end. Like was mentioned above, it would probably be a better idea to go with a heads/cam setup. If you are dead set on a blower though, prochargers are nice, just be sure you do have the money for a rebuild.

No, im not dead set on a blower. I am dead set on making around 450 rwhp though...so i guess heads/cam and a few other little things will be the way to go for me....

and what is LE? (yes, i am a V8 newb)

Lloyd elliot nighttrain here on the forum ...im sure someone can provide a link?? ...well a heads cam setup would put you around 390-400 ...50 or 100 shot of nitrous would get you close to the 500rwhp mark, and done correctly, can be just as safe as a blower

thought about a ptk turbo kit? www.forcedinductions.com or the sts rear mount turbo kit? that would put you over the 450 mark...and they seem to be holding up better than blowers on stock bottom ends...
