anyone install intercooler under driver side headlite?

Where are the coolers at? I have one under the driver side headlite, in front of the wheelwell, but it is too large for that spot. And if someone out there already has a design for that location, i would really like to see it. Thanks...

I think that the turbo kit from proturbokits.com uses a air to water intercooler there. You may want to go to thier page and check it out.

Ive never though about putting an intercooler belowe my driver side head light?. Why in the world would you put one there?, unless you have twin intercooler?. Mine is front mounted right in fron of my radiator and works fine. There are several people here that have done that mod.

well i sent the car away to get beefed up, and that was where the installer put it. i sort of liked the location, being protected and still getting airflow by way of a small scoop. Ductwork is minimal. But the unit is just too large to get a comfortable fit. I was out there today, and was considering a frontmount position (as opposed to buying a custom unit). Would i be able to get pics from anyone running this setup? Thanks again...

http://www.proturbokits.com

Go there and click on the link to the f-body kits.

Click on the picture to the left of the description.

You will see the intercooler located where the factory airbox would be.

They used to have more pictures on thier site but I can't find them now. I bet they would be more than happy to send you some pictures and give a price quote.

Seems to me a front mount would be a little easier and get more air.

It's air/water but you could do an air/air the same way. Took some fairly extensive modifications but it CAN be done

That is a pretty sweet setup. But in the last few hours i popped off my nosepiece, and i am already cutting into the protection assembly. I am keeping my cooler, gonna be right between the foglamps. Getting pics every step of the way. Thanks for the help...

Putting a air-air intercooler under your headlight isn't going to allow very large of an intercooler and flow will not be that great. The ATI systems intercooler (twins) is the size of a 2 core system cut in half (then all the associated tubing) Not really IMO a great system as for making hp.

To make the intercooler work right you are going to need to either run air-water or work in a bigger cooler somehow.
My air-water placement (one on either side)

Looks like you are doing it right in the front center. Good choice imo and will look killer.

Good luck on the build

In the last couple of days, i have mounted the IC in front on the crash protection. I removed the plastic portion, and cut away some material, and the m'er f'er fits directly between my foglamps. I dry fit the nosepiece today, and i will drop the cooler a quarter inch. All the plastic push clips, including the lower three, will install no problem. Cut away a portion of the driver side crash protecton to sneak ducting thru. No cutting whatsoever of the nosepiece, and i retain the stock foglamps. Which is what i wanted all along. Honestly, the thing looks like it was engineered to be there. I will get some strategic holes in and around to provide airflow. Should work out fine. I have said before, i would call it a sleeper if that t-trim wasnt whining so loud.

I got pics if anyone needs em.

T/A air-water intercooler

OK seeing how the guys from BMR and zturbo mounted their air-water setups made me want to do the same thing. Im starting my long term buildiup of a forged 383 LT1 and T-76 and was wondering if those pop-up headlights in my T/A would pose a BIG problem to putting an air-water cooler in the same place. As you all know with that crazy nose on the T/A's an air-air ain't gonna work so great without hackin it to pieces, and that kinda looses the sleeper appeal im going for. Any advice on intercooler setups is more than welcome. Thanks
Bubba
