Aftermarket oil pan needed?

I am building a 383 LT1 w/ a supercharger, will I need a different oil pan or will the stock one work just fine?

Stock is fine. You might want to buy a windage tray and some doors for it. I my aftermarket pan for like $180 will all the bells and whistles and it holds an extra quart

Re: Aftermarket oil pan needed?

I am in the same boat. My problem is I bought a 383 shortblock got everything in to find out I had to pull it out again because they didnt change the windage tray and it was hitting that. So I am wondering what pan is needed as well.

Thanks
Matt

I've heard better reviews on Moroso's LT1 pan than I have on Canton's pan.

I looked, but couldn't find the Moroso one... Is it available anymore?

The pan I bought had to be clearanced for the larger crank. I got it from TPIS about 4 years ago.

Go with Canton over Moroso...better quality, a few bucks more but in the long run it'll pay for itself by not bombing out on you. Check ebay...some guys there selling different ones at good prices......Annie
