Aftercooler worth it with Vortech?

I just bought the Z28 in the sig. On a cold day I will see 15 psi of boost with my Vortech. I would assume at 15 psi compressed air gets pretty hot. My question is with my forged bottom end and 8.71:1 compression do I need to worry about buying an aftercooler? The car makes all the power I want/need right now, so all I am looking to do is increase reliability.

Also, in hot weather the boost drops to about 11 psi, sometimes even 9. Would the aftercooler keep the boost constant?

Thanks.

Hell yeah its worth it!!! You should pick up quite a bit of power from the upgrade to the aftercooler with that much boost prolly about 50-60 hp!! That aint nothing to look down at!!! Good luck man.

So I say...

With that much boost I think you better go with something bigger.

why bigger???? all you need to do is put in a bigger heat exchanger for the water and that is it... I think.. I am thinking on going with the aftercooler from vortech and pump out 14psi

aftercooler makes a night and difference in intake temps. I think it really helps with reliability--taking the detonation away from the engine.

not sure what it will add but you will loose 2-3 lbs of boost, but then again with the aftercooler you can run more than 15 lbs. safely.

Yes and yes.

Cutting down your risk of detonation alone is all the reliability and peace of mind you should need. And you'll get the extra power as a bonus.

How's she running? Let me know if you're coming out to the track on the 12th....I need to take a look at her.
