Re: Aftercooler and HP?

I've made 550 through an auto/loose converter through it. Others have made 620+ with it.

I'm betting I'm in the 650 range with 18 psi from a turbo now.

Re: Aftercooler and HP?

Best session on the dyno was 559 rwhp.

Needed a dash of Xylene ...

Re: Aftercooler and HP?

Thanks guys. Vortech lists it as good for 450hp...

SS#1230...what do you mean? Short of the cam swap, everything is smog legal and the car blows beautiful numbers on the test.

Re: Aftercooler and HP?

I made 650 at the wheels with a T-trim/Aftercooler and pump gas. On the engine dyno it made 925 with 100 octane at 14 psi.

Re: Aftercooler and HP?

does your cam have much lope to it? i havent smogged yet with my hotcam but it makes a pretty noticable lope with my tiny flowmaster. it passes the sniffer for sure but im just worried about raised eyebrows when they listen to it....

BTW, who did your motor?

Yes, but the supercharger is CARB approved and "puts a heck of a load on the engine at idle".

A friend of my brothers in CO...called ELPES Racing. He builds lots of roundy-round car motors, but is not an LT1 specialist by any means though. Can't really complain too much though, it seems to be running pretty good...goes back to the dyno again this Saturday with a new tranny this time.

He did the longblock (roughly $5000 I'd guess, it's been awhile) using my heads, but we ended up swapping the cam and Advanced Induction supplied new AFR heads...I'd of been better off with a shortblock. Myself and 2 buddies did all the work. I got wise and quit taking my car to "professionals" long ago...

I've got long tubes and can pass. The flp's have the air & egr hookups. IT just adds an extra converter which helps the flow a lot, but is technically not carb legal. It smogged very clean with this exhaust on the car. Stock tuning except for the injector constant is set to 42, that's it.

As far as the aftercooler, I haven't dynoed it yet since installing the vortech kit on my car, but I can testify that the motor makes more torque than it ever has and the blower is nice and quiet. I previously had the ati p600b 12-rib setup with twin intercoolers, which made over 500 rwhp.

Re: Aftercooler and HP?

I have flunked smog pre-test twice in CA. 1st time I failed 4 out of 4 tests, 2nd time last week I passed 3 out of 4 but am still running rich at 2500 rpm. I cleaned up the idle through programing and I just put on a EGR solenoid that I think was bad and will try again next week. My biggest problem is the 72# injectors running rich at idle which I have solved, Hopefully I'll get it to pass next week. As far as power I haven't finished tuning and am running a smog tune til it passes but with 5psi boost I'm at 540rwhp, I'm shooting for 600 rwhp at this boost level

HEY ED, are you running the v2 SQ or just the regular s trim?

RCF925, what happens when you fail? how long do you have to correct the problems and do you get charged any kind of fines?
