Aerospace V-style flanges and clamps?

I figure that turbo guys use these so maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

I have some new Kooks headers for my LT1, but they are the 3.5" collectors. I want to keep as much ground clearance as I can (so no 3 bolt triangle flange/gasket), but I also want to be able to remove the exhaust without cutting it (so no welding straight up to the exhaust).

I know FLP uses them on their headers/cats/offroad pipes, but I can't find them in the 3.5" sizing.

So, where can I find these parts? Both flanges AND the clamp?

Thank you for any and all help you can provide.

www.proturbokits.com

FYI, you will lose just as much ground clearance if not more than 3 bolt style

im with him... and if you mess up the vband flange its going to cost more to replace than a regular 3bolt flange

Re: Aerospace V-style flanges and clamps?

I'm not so sure about that... unless the 3.5" v-clamp band is that much larger then the 3" ones I have had in my hands.

And my car isn't low, it is actually a bit higher then stock... With my Spohn tubular torque arm bracket (for the 4" mufflex exhaust and LT headers) doesn't even touch going over speed bumps...

And in order to run a 3 bolt flange on these headers with how close they are to the floorboard I would have to run the single point down and the two bolts at the top. Making a lower point on the car.

Not to mention dealing with sealing issues. However with my setup I haven't had any collector gasket failures once I swapped to the SCD pure copper embossed gaskets.

Thanks for the link though.

I just ordered them... thanks for the link. He said they were a 4" diameter outer measurement. Sounds about similar or slightly smaller then a total outer measurement of a 3 bolt triangle flange for a 3.5" collector...

A 3.5" v-band flange has an OD of 4.20"... then you need to add in a little for the clamp, so probably ~4.50" OD for the assembly.

That would make sense, but the guy said the outer diameter was 4"... I'll see next week when I have them in my hands.

Either way, I think this is the right/superior way to do it.

I bought 4 sets. One set per header and one set per muffler. I'm going to have my H-pipe built and then send it out for coating as well and then be able to bolt up/down my mufflers for ease of maintenece and running straight exhaust at the track.

I've got these style of clamps on my entire exhaust...awesome, makes dropping the cat or y-pipe a piece of cake.

He was just giving you a ball park figure - if they are 3.5" v-band flanges, they WILL be 4.20" OD ... I promise . No doubt v-band assemblies are the way to go. I use them anywhere I can.

If my outer diameter was 3.1 inch on the v-band flange what size would I need to order. Because I ordered 2 different ones telling them that dimesnion and neither work. One was 2.25" and the other was 2.5". I tried a dynaflex one and they are not even the same thing as the v-band on my turbo. The band flange itself was much taller.

What turbo are you using? A few of the OEM turbos use odd-ball v-band sizes. Anyway, there is a fleetgaurd pdf somewhere on their internet site that has most of the v-band assembly dimensions and part numbers - if you can find it, it will tell you that part number for the flange and clamp you need.

Its a garret turbo. It seems like an oddball v-band flange. I was going to call turbonetics and talk to them about it. Aggrevating to have oddball stuff and not be able to find parts.
