Advise please D1SC 8# kit coming

To all who are running a simlar setup.

Need some advise about my setup. I am thinking I may runout of fuel with the blower.

My current setup is making about 383 rwhp at the rear, (heads and cam) running the stock fuel pump with 30lbs inj. I do have LT1 edit. (true duels with the 383 rwhp, I just installed the X-pipe but I did not have the time to dyno yet.) Oh 2 1/5" exhaust pips.
Hooker long tubes 1 3/4"

The Blower kit Ati Twin High Flow with a D1SC at 8#
FMU and the Massenger for the 97 MAF. After running the numbers it looks like I maybe in the 525 - 570 rwhp range.

The nice people at ATI say I should be ok. What do you guys think? I would like to have some extra margin of fuel.

Oh they are saying that I may get more then 8# with my setup due to the D1SC's CFM flow. and thats at the stock rev limiter. I am running my car to 6500.

I guess I could cut back on the rev limiter with the blower to control the over boost?

Ok the other thing I'm still running on the stock bottem with 80K.

Need this to last for a bit until I build my next motor.

Thanks all for any help!

I would probably go with some 42 lb injectors, and Walbro 255 lph intank pump and remove the FMU. If you want your motor to last a few months than I would recommend going with the biggest blower pulley they offer for a D1SC. I would not recommend spinning your car up to 6500 rpm and also I would monitor your car for knock.

I think your primary problem will be resisting the urge to take advantage of the blower and the cubes.

I would say you will need to significantly pulley down the blower. I have a D1 383 and I have 50# injectors and I had to move up from a Walbro 340 intank to a DUAL intank pump set up.

In fact I think I will have to go to 72#'s. I had Edit but this winter have gone to a FAST.

Your problem is going to be the bottom end. Start saving

I think the prices for 42lbs and 55lbs are close to the same. Where is a good place to get some 55# injectors? I beleive that is the biggest inj for High Impedance.

I have the Walbro 255 LPH ( GSS340M ) in tank pump waiting to go in. I think I'll just cut the trunk to get to the gas tank. That way if something goes south it will be easy to change.

As for the pully ATI is sending me the biggest blower pully they have I think its a 4". Does anyone know if someone makes a blower under drive pully for the crank on the LT1?? That would kill some boost...

I will bring down the limiter to 5500 and go from there. Will also watch for knock and run some race gas.

As for the FMU, I was thinking of removing the MAF and run speed density... Does anyone know if you change the MAP sensor to a boost MAP sensor like on the GN's, will the PCM add fuel under boost??? If so I could then remove the FMU....

Will have to check and see if the boost MAP will connect to the stock connector first.

Hmm looks like I'm making a new trail....

Well I have access to a Dyno and will test some of the ideas.

What do some of you think?

The lost sheep.......

Yes 55 lb are the biggest high impedance injector available. But in my opinion all you need is 42 lbers. You can pick up injectors from Racetronix. As far as underdrive pulley goes you can have ASP make you a custom pulley but in my opinion I would not even bother. There is no need to waste your money by switching over the Speed Density with your setup. I would just start saving for a rebuild.

Just get the in tank pump in, throw the 42lbers in, throw away the FMU and have Bryan at www.pcmforless.com send you a mild tune. Much safer.

Your motor will blow not matter what. Fuel is your friend, and with high comp i would run it rich. 42lb should be fine, and i would not go larger unless you have after market ECM. Get a BTM and mix race gas if you have that option at local gas sation. Be aware of detonation or BOOM.
