6 rib belt on an 8 or 12 rib ATI pulley??
6 rib belt on an 8 or 12 rib ATI pulley??
Anyone ever hear or do this? I was wondering if it's possible to do or if the belt would jump ribs? I think I have an 8 or 10 rib belt and a 12 rib pulley. I need some info on what to do with this. Should I spend the money on the correct pullies or would running a smaller ribbed belt on a larger ribbed pulley be fine?
TIA,
Wade

I had two 4 ribs on a 8 rib setup for a while....worked fine...I just made sure the two belts where from the same batch...
it will work...it should not jump....but belt slip my be a problem

In theory the more ribs the less stress you will have because the adjustment doesn't have to be so stout. With spring loaded idlers the loads are safe for bearing life, but the increased surface area of the wider belt is obviously an advantage with high boost, precisely why people step up to the wider drive.
