396 Blown

Are there many people here going with a 396. I know there are a lot of 383's but, is there any disadvantage? I only have a P1SC with a 10 and 12 pound pulleys. That 396 would probably run much less boost, right?

This would obviously be a street/track car.

Re: 396 Blown

The one disadvantage to a 396ci over a 383ci for forced induction is that it is harder to lower the compression ratio when using stock ported heads. The combustion chambers are to small to support that kind of stroke. The piston tops become too think because of the giant dish that you have to put in it.

If you are using AFR heads with some big combustion chambers then by all means go for it.
