24X guys.

Are there any forced induction guys on here running the 24x ignition yet? What map and maf sensors are you using?

Re: 24X guys.

I will be running the 24x with a FI motor. Almost done and ready to fire it up. I will be running the stock MAP and a 5-wire MAF. Buddy of mine on the other forums (qc97z - ltxtech, ls1tech, etc). has a nice FI engine but went speed density. He can prob help if you have any questions since his car is already up and running making very good power.

How high(psi) does the stock map go? I'll have an aftermarket intake so I'll have to come up with something. Does your buddy have a 24X system? If so, why's he doing SD?

From what I understand, the stock map can be used in conjunction with the MAF for FI applications with the concern of maxing the MAF out depending boost level. If the amount of air passing by the MAF exceeds the readable range, then the tuner needs to compensate for that in the PCM.

If you go speed density, you will need to replace the MAP sensor with a unit that will read within your boost range. The 24x system allows for greater tunability (and higher rpm limit) than the LT1 pcm. The software packages available for the LS1 cars are simply more advanced and coupled with the coil on plug ignition, its an overall better system.

Plenty of people have tuned a FI LT1 on the stock pcm but I simply don't have a good tuner in my area to do it. I also wanted to get rid of the opti.

Re: 24X guys.

I have a single plane intake and I'm wondering what MAP to go with. I see summit have some universal ones. I think AEM. I guess I'm wondering what people are using and how they are accuracy and longevity wise? EFI connection needs to know what I'm using before they build the MAP sensor pig tail.

Getting ready to do the switch myself next month, getting a few questions answered 1st since I may be the 1st one to do it w/ an aftermarket ECU. Crossing fingers.

Re: 24X guys.

A stock sensor should read from 35 inches of vacuum to 0 inches (1 bar). A 2 bar would read up to 14.7 PSI (2 bar). 3 bar should go up to around 30 psi.

I'd probably use a GM 2 or 3 bar map since most parts shops can get the sensor or pigtail pretty easily.

2 bar GM 12569241

3 bar GM 12223861

Re: 24X guys.

So do you just screw a fitting into the intake and run a vacuum/boost line from it to the MAP sensor?
