What do you think of this exhaust?
What do you think of this exhaust?
I'm kind of kicking an idea around in my head for a new exhaust setup, and I'm curious to see if anyone has anything similar and what you thought of it.
-AS&M 1.75" shorty headers.
-Random Technology dual cat y-pipe.
-2.5" x-pipe where the stock catback makes an "s-bend" after the cat(s).
-Dual 2.5" pipe on passenger side (same as the stock i-pipe) with chambered mufflers (gmmg-type) just before the axle.
-Pipes routed over axle/exits in the stock location.
I've seen/heard of people with long tube headers with somewhat similar setups/routing, but they all seem to use either bullet-type or Borla mufflers. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't give AS&M 10 cents of my money. Those bastards took almost an entire year to produce 20 large tube runners on a group purchase. And then when the finally arrived, lots of people had warped sets.
Go with somebody else for the headers. I don't see the point in doing short headers on LT1's. They're so hard to work on under the hood, you might as well get some long tubes.

To clarify for everyone, I currently have Hooker shorty headers on my car. I should've put this in my original post, but I already have the AS&M headers/Random Tech. dual cat y-pipe ready to install (bought used). My car is also lowered and may eventually have to pass emissions, so long tube headers aren't going on the car.
Yeah there's no point in running shorties even if emissions are a problem, I'd rather run stock exh. manifolds or atleast midlengths.
If you're on a budget get the Pacesetter LT's (and keep a finger crossed you get a good pair). You won't see a seat of the pants gain with shorties, and you will be dissapointed you didn't get LT's. You might as well do it right the first time and see the best performance gains you can.

Ironically, AS&M call them "long tube" headers when they're obviously shorties.
So I guess I should be asking what you all think of the exhaust I have in mind from the cats-back.

To further clarify, these are the headers I have, along with the Random Tech dual cat y-pipe in place of the y-pipe displayed here:

I ended up ordering Kooks long-tubes. They have AIR/EGR and O2 bungs.
In the longrun, long-tubes are the answer (shooting for 450HP). Your needs might be different, but it's important for you to think about what you want out of the car, in the end.
