Straight pipe same as cutout?

I currently have a single dynomax bullet dumped in front of the rear axle. Would it sound the same as a cut-out if I chopped the bullet off and just had a straight pipe there, maybe with a turn down?

i have that exact same setup, although i have some serious issues right now, it would be much louder without the bullet, when at WOT the car is REALLY loud with the bullet on, without it might be too much.

Yeah, mine is VERY loud at WOT, esp with the CC306. It just doesnt chop at idle quite like my buddys did with a cutout, I am just wondering if maybe a straight pipe would do the trick. I have asked a couple of people, and they said it will be even louder than a cutout, but I figured I would post up in here and see what people thought.

I've run both ways... Open Y-pipe and through a cutout. I found it a little bit quieter running open Y due to less resonation off of the ground. At the end of the day though, there's not a big difference at WOT, so it's really a matter of whether or not you want the ability to make it quiet again.
