straight pipe?

I have a flowmaster with turndowns and no cat but I want my car to be louder but I dont want it to sound like a dirt car someone suggested taking off my flowmaster and putting a straight pipe would that make it louder without sounding crappy?

Well before I had my headers I took my muffler off and it sounded like an old hill billy farm truck, it sounded nice at idle but driving it sounded like crap.

since you don't have a cat it might sound better I don't know, but I wouln't take off you flowmaster buy a cut-out instead that way if you don't like it you can cap it back up, they are only like 30 dollars or so on jegs that would be your best bet, or get headers

I heard somewhere straught pipes don't flow as good? Can someone either tell me that guy was wrong, or was he right? So if what I heard is true, then you would lose performance, well maybe I hate flowmasters for power.

straight pipe is gonna be raspy as hell.

i would suggest trying something like a dynomax bullet muffler. almost no decrease in flow and it will tone the exhaust down just enough to be tolerable.

but it's still gonna rasp at higher rpm

you can go the straight pipe route, but it really sounds like **** IMO. You can get a dynomax muffler, and it will sound a lot better than the flowmaster muffler. How much are you looking to spend? Are you trying to make it louder or make more horsepower? If you are looking to get the best of both worlds, i would get long tube headers and a "good" catback like a magnaflow, borla, or slp etc.

I would leave the Flowmaster on there, a straight pipe with no cat sounds pretty bad in my opinion.
