SLP Long Tubes or Hooker Ceramic Coated Long Tubes
I was just curious if it would be worth the extra money for the slp long tubes, or just get a set of hooker long tubes and use the money i saved for other mods. the slps are $1349.95. I am wanting to know if the slp headers would outperform the hookers enough to justify the higher price.
get the hookers. slp is a waste of money. won't get you better ground clearance or anything. you're buying longtubes, not shorties, so you're not going to get that great of clearance in the first place. my pacesetters tuck up pretty good though. i would jsut go with the hookers, you're just paying for the brand name with SLP in my opinion, and if you end up selling hte car with the mods, you're not going to fetch any more for it if you had gotten the SLP's over hte hookers. just my .02.
For what it's worth, I got the ARH LTs and went in without a single problem and my ground clearance is at a minimum, equal to what it was stock, if not better. A bit pricier than the Hookers, but probably not much more than the SLPs. Not sure though because I haven't looked at the price on the SLPs forever. I've heard nothing but bad things about the ground clearance on SLPs though.
If you plan on keeping the car for a long time, it's probably worth getting a nicer header though so that you benefit from a higher quality piece, as well as the ground clearance.

I went with Kooks LT's and their dual-cat/y-pipe. If you glanced under
the car, you'd swear the exhaust is all stock:

That's actually a photo holding the camera at a bit lower than the
rockers - a photo taken at a more "level" angle with the underbelly
and you'd be hard pressed to see the headers/cats. Maybe these:

I agree with the above stated. Fitment and quality are what to look for. If you have an LS1 car i would recommend taking a look at the ARH or Kooks for an LT1 car. Out of the 2, id say hooker but if you plan on keeping the car for a while or if you are looking for the best id look at the stainless brands. I have the ARHs now on Kooks on my previous car. The ground clearance was no worse than stock and they slid right, no grinding or notching required.
