Random Technology Catback
Random Technology Catback
Five years or so ago when I last checked, the Random Technology 3" stainless catback was one of the best out there.
Is this still the case or has there been a lot of new exhaust developments for third gens over the past few years?
Also is there anyone in the twin cities area other than John Haley motorsports that will install it with a test pipe in place of the cat (no emissions in minnesota)?

The Random Tech catback is a good cheep catback. It is not stainless though. Over time it will rust through. The next best step up from the Random Tech is a Magnaflow. The Magnaflow is about the cheepest stainless catback out there, and it looks and sounds very similar to the Random Tech.

Are you sure about that? The only random tech ones I've ever seen were over $600 and stainless steel...definitely a quality exhaust.
Try www.ls1sounds.com they have multiple exhaust setups and sound and video clips of all of them. For more than $600, there are a lot of high end options that IMO, would be better such as Borla, B&B Tri Flow, and a couple others like Corsa. However if you went with thier cheeper non stainless system, it would probably be the best for the money. Personally, it depends on how much you want to spend. I spent high $ on the best of everything for my Z, and I went with Borla. For my Formula, I plan on on getting Magnaflow as it is cheep, but still stainless, and gets almost as good gains as the more expensive ones.

Thanks, I'll have to do a little research; I too want the best when I'm modifying. I never really liked the look of the Borla which is a shame since it's a great system, and I wasn't aware that Corsa made an exhaust for third gens. It used to be just for vettes and fourth gens. I'll have to look into them.
