I figured that someone on this board would be able to help me answer this question. I recently had a glasspack muffler installed on my truck because I wanted to have a louder exhuast. Anyways my truck still sounds the same. With just a little difference in the tone. I wanted to remove my Catalytic Converter but there a oxygen sensor about 2-3" behind it. Would I have any problems replacing the cat with a straight pipe but still keeping the oxygen sensor in place?? I know I will have problems if I run a straight pipe replacing the sensor. Any info would help

 

The 02 sensor being 2-3 inches behind the cat would indicate that it is monitoring the efficiency of the catalyst so if you remove the cat, you will most likely get an SES light.

 

If that's the case would there be any other types of problems if I did replace the cat with a pipe?? or will a light just come on. I just dont want to remove it and start having problems with the truck and stuff like that. I dont mind the light coming on - Just looking to avoid other problems that will effect the way my truck drives

 

You shouldn't experience any driveability issues. The only problem I can see is emissions inspections if they apply to you.

 

DO IT!!! (if you don't have emissions testing) I have a 98 Dakota with a 5.2 and it sounds way better with the Flowmaster and no cat. I lucked out by only having one, I've seen other Dodges with up to 3! I'm sure you will love how it sounds when you remove it.
As said above you will most likely get a SES light but it won't effect how the truck drives or anything. You can get an O2 simulator and it will turn that light off. Once again I lucked out and didn't get a code.
