por 15 on headers
por 15 on headers
what would you guys say if i said i wanted to get the painted pacesetters for my car and put the engine por 15 on them, would it help with anything? anything like coated headers? comparable?
I do not know if I would use Por-15 on headers but I know the company that makes Por- 15 makes another product called Por-20. Por-20 is a paint that is designed to be put on headers on manifolds. Although, I have not tried Por-20, everything that I have gotten from that company is well worth the price.
Don't use the engine paint! It won't take the heat.
I have not thrie the POR 20, it must be new. I used the POR 'Black Velvet' paint on headers with great success, about 3 years ago. It's on a Yamaha R1 engine, in a homebuilt car, so it does not see rain, though. Also, since the header is directly behind my aluminum seat shell, I added some 'ThermaCels' which are ceramic beads that add thermal barrier properties to any paint. It helped. The paint is kind of rough textured, but uniform. I used 3 coats.

When I painted a set of headers a couple of years ago, I use VHT paint from Summit. I stripped everything off the headers, and painted em with that stuff. Help up great, but IMO, coated is better.
