ORY or High Flow cat

I was woundering what would be the best setup, runnin no cat or running a high flow cat. I live in south dakota and we dont have to worry about emmisions at all and also if i didnt have to run a cat what the best soundin cat back would be because i know LM can kinda sound crappy with no cats at high rpms and before anyone barks at me to search i've been searchin for this the past 3 nights and have come up with nothing lol so any info u guys could give me would be awsome

Depends on which catback you want to run. The loud ones like GMMG, Borla, LM all sound better with a cat.

The quieter ones like Hooker and Dynomax sound better without.

Yet is the key word. If you haven't noticed, the EPA is getting more agressive with vehicle emissions. Just wait until we have a liberal President and see how environazi things get.

A set of good high flow cats only cost a couple of HP. W/the new metallic core cats, possibly less. Reqardless on if you can get away with it, IMO it is the responsible descision.

Its your call with the cats, the power gain aspect isn't going to make or break you.The only thing it will hurt is your wallet for the added expense of the cats and the labor to weld them in.

ORY is going to be cheaper and louder. Also little more rasp, but worth it for the extra rumble if you ask me.

**** the earth! I have Hooker LTs -> 4" Mufflex ORY ->Magnaflow setup and it rumbles like a beast at idle, quieter when you want to be quiet (sneaking away from gf's houses hehe) but if you romp on it.. even half throttle is like sex haha. I wouldn't put a cat on this car if the gov. tried, I would pay off emissions (if we had them here)

You won't regret the sound, you will have a grin from ear to ear :P Happy modding!

Well I went for the larger pipe because I plan to do H/C and punch it out to 383ci, might aswell splurge now than realize I need a bigger pipe so there is no restriction.

Bigger = better lol.

Not always. You'll actually lose low end from the reduced exhaust velocity. Is this dumping into a 3" catback?

The big cubed FI cars that I've been around aren't even running 4" pipes on the Y.

The only component on your exhaust 4" should be your tips You're loosing a small chunk of ponies and most importantly low-end torque. My Stepdad's 8.1 Silverado 496 ci has a 4" cat-back, and he's probably pushing it a little also.

With a single cat set up it may be worth it, but for dual high flow cats it is not worth it IMO. Also not all high flow cats are created equal. I guarantee the Magnaflow metallic core cat outflow the ceramics.

so the magnaflow hi-flow cat would be the best one for the price cuz im not lookin to spend no 200 bux on a cat when i dont really need one and im also kinda goin for sound not so much performance
