Normal LT vs. Stepped LT, gain?

I was just wondering if anybody has seen an actual improvement, from switching from a normal 1 3/4 LT header to a stepped 1 3/4- 1 7/8 LT header? I didn't know if it would be worth the $500+, to switch what i have now, or put that money towards something else. Anybody?

Do a search over on ls1tech.com. There were a couple real good posts on the stepped headers.

The only one I found, was done on an LS1, damn near bone stock, by Jason @ Texas Speed. At the only one that did a comparison. Did you find some more topics, that I had missed?

You are not going to see that much of a difference with a bolt on car or any car for that matter that isn't a full on race motor. The difference in 5 or less horsepower and foot pounds is not going to be worth it if you ask me. I believe the only thing you would see change would be your low end torque because a stepped design is supposed to increase your exhaust velocity which would really only have an effect at low RPM. Just my $.02 though, take it for what it's worth.

Gain will be minimal on a bolt-on car.

going off your signature, i believe you should do the transition. also remember you will some of that money back selling your current headers.

no, someone here spent thousands testing headers and ended up gusing 1 3/4" hookers

I use those same headers and I don't think a stepped header would help at all.....
