Mufflex y-pipe for Kooks LT's, any interest?
Mufflex y-pipe for Kooks LT's, any interest?
Hey guys, in the next 2 weeks, I will have my Kooks 1 ¾ to 1 7/8 3” merge headers installed on my car. I did not purchase the Kooks y-pipe because I am not crazy about the one that they offer. I feel that the merge of the two pipes suck, and I need a 4 inch merge to mate to my 4” Mufflex cat back. I was going to purchase a Mufflex y-pipe, and modify it to work with the Kooks LT’s. After speaking with Denny at Mufflex, and being that I’m only about 1.5 hours from there, I have decided to have him make the y-pipe on the car. I mentioned to him that a y-pipe for this application would probably be in demand if it were available. He then offered not only to make me one, but a second one that he will jig, and possibly put into production. It will be similar to the one that they offer for the Hooker and Jet Hot headers, just made to fit the Kooks. What I want to know is who would be interested in one. If you do have interest in it, please post here. I told Denny about this post, and he would love to hear feedback, and get a feel for the demand for this y-pipe. Post away and I will pass the information and feedback to him.

This would be a dual 3" inch y into a Flowmaster merge with a 4' outlet, just like the Mufflex y for the Hooker/Jet Hot headers. It will come with an adapter for you guys running a 3" or 3.5" cat back. This thread shows pics of the headers and y-pipes side by side, for a better comparison: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...t=Kooks+Hooker
Thanks again to trax for those pics and great write up!

just out of curiosity why don't you stick 2 cutouts in the Y just after the headers (but before they merge), then you have a system for max flow, then just use the regular Y pipe the way it is and connect to a cat back for quietness? This, to me, would be the best of both worlds.
I wouldnt stick cutouts on my car because I dont like them, and my 4" Mufflex cat back flows plenty, and is loud enough at WOT. This thread is for seeing who would like a better y-pipe for their Kooks headers. If you look at the pics, you can see why a better one needs to be made.
