Muffler in cat location - Any neg affects?

Muffler in cat location - Any neg affects?
Are ther any draw backs to welding the muffler to the y pipe and then a turn down on the muffler?
Sound? Performance? ect....
I have LTS and no cats. I have dynamat on the interior and lizard skin on the underside. I will use the exhaust hangers from the rear to mount in the new location. I figured I would just put the muffler in the old cat location and call it good. I just want to make sure I am not shorting myself in any way by doing this....
I understand its not the "greenest" thing to do
