Re: Magnaflow muffler

Great, nice rumble when idling and driving and kicks butt when wide open. Can't beat it for the money.

Re: Magnaflow muffler

As mentioned above, it is a pretty tame muffler at idle, and it really roars at WOT. It was a little to tame for me though so I ended up adding a cutout on top of that.

Re: Magnaflow muffler

It's not the best quality, but at least it's a clip of a magnaflow muffler. Just
check the vid in my sig. It's a true dual exhaust with the same muffler design,
the only difference is the dual paths in a single muffler.

The vid was made by request to hear the cold idle of the Crane 227. After
all, the linky does say Idle Video

Re: Magnaflow muffler

I have the magnaflow. Like 2000gtp said, it was a little bit tame for me, so i put a cutout on. The magnaflow still sounds nice, and its loud when you get on it. Make sure you get the catback system if your looking for power. The 3 inch mandrel pipes are much better than the stock piping.

Re: Magnaflow muffler

Just put the cat-back system on this past Friday and I love it! It still had the stock exhaust on prior to this and boy, does it sound better now. Nice mellow rumble at idle, sounds meaner the higher you rev it. Not overbearingly loud or obnoxious though.

Re: Magnaflow muffler

Don't mean to hi-jack your thread, but I was thinking about doing the same thing... (putting a magnaflow muffler in place of the stock one).

Couple of questions:
1) Where is the cheapest place to buy the magnaflow catback??? I saw one guy post that he got it for $285 shipped.... I'm seeing mid to upper 300s
2) The stock tail pipes (up to the tips) come out of the muffler and turn toward the rear of the car. All of the aftermarket mufflers I've seen just have 2"-4" flanges out of the muffler itself. Where/how do you get tail pipe pieces that go from the muffler to the tips?
3) I measured my intermediate pipe and my muffler outlet pipes on the stock setup. 3" and 2.5"... Why would a "catback system" w/ the same measurements be better than just replacing the muffler w/ a more free flowing one?

Thanks

John T
