Magnaflow or Hooker

I'm trying to decide on a new catback system to replace the flowmaster. I am not sure if I like the sound anymore. I love the old school muscle car sound but don't want to deal with true duals. The only reason I am considering the magnaflow is because it is stainless. The hooker from what I have heard sounds pretty good, but it is aluminzed and I would like stainless.GMMG might be an option but I am not sure I want to put that much money in an exhaust, plus I have a credit at Thunder Racing I would love to use up. Does anybody have any good videos of a cammed LT1 and magnaflow exhaust? I did some looking at LS1 sounds, and LT1 engine and couldn't come up with anything. Other suggestions are welcome as well.

Thanks

They are both good catbacks, but personally, I like the tone of the Hooker better. The selling point of the Magnaflow for me was the fact that it is stainless and will last most likely the life of the car.

I have never had a Magnaflow, but I just installed a Hooker exhaust and it sounds great.

I am not against a hooker, but my wife might not like it....

I just like the idea of stainless, but I would like to hear a few more magnaflow exhausts. I know the sound of the exhaust changes a lot when going from the stock exhaust to LT's and an off road y-pipe. It helps to hear it with a cam too. I appreciate the input though.

The hooker is pretty quiet below ~2300 rpms, but past that it has a great tone. I like it because it allows me to creep around when I don't want to be loud and allows me to be loud when I want to be.

I'm very happy with the new Magnaflow on my car . I previously had a Flowmaster, but it rotted out within ~3 years . The stainless also sold my on the Magnaflow, and especially for the price!!

The idle is much more mellow than the Flowmaster, but wide open it sounds really nice . My buddy also has a Magnaflow on his '97 Z28 (LT1) and it sounds very similar to my car (quiet/mellow at idle, but louder - obviously - as it cranks up).

I'm done putting crap exhaust on my car .

Magnaflow. Stainless is always the better option.

i have magnflows its very quite for me, it actually sounds pretty deep not raspy or that V8 snarl but it sounds much different then flowmasters took me a while to get use to it almost sounded like a V6 with a muffler lol so initially sound wise wasnt happy then got use to it. Now im running magnaflows catback with a cutout before the axle and it sounds awesome, quality wise i cant complain at all fit nice no rust at all, by the way this is on a 93 Z.

I've also had a hooker aerochamber catback, sounded awesome, but rotted out in about 2-3 years. Recently bought magnaflow and haven't had a chance to install it, or finish my motor swap for that matter, but my friend has a magnaflow on his ls1 and it sounds nice. Plus it's stainless!

I think at this point it is either going to be magnaflow, or I will just step up and purchase a GMMG exhaust. I still want to hear an LT1 w/ LT's ORY and preferably a cam to really see what it sounds like. I just don't want to go back to a non-stainless steel exhaust. Thanks for all of the input.

Anything other than a Borla will be quiter than your Flowmaster. I happen to LOVE the sound of flowmaster it just doesnt perform as well as most other cat backs. Magna flow didnt sound good to me on my basically stock LT1. Hooker sounds real nice. Corsa is great to. Im waiting to buy a b&B Triflo just for the tips LOL
