long tubes will yield more power, shortys will be easier to install

long tubes are the best thing u can do though, and i would go with long tubes if you can

this is what i was told, so tell me if this sounds right or is worth it, hell i have stock manifolds lol so im sure it is lol

These Edelbrock's are short tube headers - the primaries are 1 5/8" and the collectors are 2 1/2" or 2 3/4"... Y pipe outlet is 2 3/4"

anything is an upgrade over stock, but you'd be better off to spend the extra money and get some long tubes. You can get LT pacesetters (ceramic coated) for 390ish

450 ish, but i have seen claims of 18-25 hp from the headers i was talking about,to think there would be 25 more for lt's seems insane

If you're going to spend the time putting the headers in yourself then spend the money on LT's. LTs are not only going to make a lot more power but the power band will be much better. They will sound a lot better as well.

yeah right...maybe going from stock manifolds on a cammed motor to LTs you may see that much.

but on a bolt on car...manifolds with cats to a set of longtubes with no cats will yield about 15hp to the wheels.

the problem with shorties is that alot of them use the stock Ypipe and cats...so the gains are low.
i'd be willing to bet on a bolt on car, shorties with stock cats will net you about 5hp...
maybe a couple more with an offroad pipe

Not sure what things are like in Canada, but if you have emissions regulations, then I would be concerned with that as well. Emissions will be the deal breaker with the long tubes. If that is the case, I would stick with the shorties and retain the factory AIR/EGR and y-pipe. Otherwise, I would go with the long tubes.

Don't forget the ground clearance issue with LTs.

I have the SLP short style headers. I was not impressed with the performance till I purchased a Random Y with twin 2 1/2 cats. Last year I went with a 3 1/2 mufflex system with a QTP cut-out. It can make noise, but the free flow performance is there now, and, the D1 really spins up quick. I would love the LT's, but, I don't have much ground clearance. (383-D1/ 72# Acceleronics - M6)

Definitly the reason why I went with mids. The AS&M mids are very similar in gains to LTs without the loss in clearance. I couldn't be any happier with how my car performs with what I have now.
