LT headers increase low end?

My car has been on jackstands for several months. Every now and then when I'm home, I'll put it in gear and just let it idle for a few minutes. I would swear that after I installed my headers, it didn't seem to pull as easily in like 4th gear as it did when I had the stock manifolds on the car. I may be dreaming, and a lot of that perception is based on a several month's old memory of how easy it pulled when the stock manifolds were still on the car. And my memory ain't what it used to be.

Headers are definitely worth the time and effort. Now when the torque curve shifts upward you get the feeling of torque loss. Its not lost, but just in a different zone. Gears can offset this and regain that feeling of low end gumption for daily driving.

Gears will also help get you up into that "usable" powerband quicker when racing.

You don't have any exhaust leaks do you? or perhaps some vacuum issues? I just don't understand, I noticed my car pulls harder all across the board. I guess my hooker's were worth every penny ha and I'm at 5,100 feet here.

I wasn't revving my car with it in gear as it was on jackstands, but just idling it seemed to have a little more trouble in fourth gear than with the stock manifolds. Again, that's all based on memory.

hmmm...well when you get off the jackstands go take it for a spin and see. Might I ask what you're doing to your car that warrants jackstands? hopefully something nice

It's been on jackstands since Thanksgiving. That's when I began installing my headers and exhaust. GMMG forgot to send my hangers, and I didn't have time to stick around and work on it anymore, so I just left it on the stands. I'm in Michigan and my car is in Kentucky. It's not even licensed at the moment. In fact, I haven't really driven the car since October of 2000. I'm looking forward to driving it again. I've done a lot of work to it since getting it out of storage, and I imagine it's going to run better than when it was new.

Don't you love how companies do that...

Hopefully, you'll get in her soon enough. I know what you're going thru, I work for Turner Industries (Specialized in Plant shut-downs, repairs, construction) I got to drive my car a couple times last year (a whole 13 miles) and thats it, due to working on the road.

She's a garage wh*re.

I just recently did longtubes on my Camaro. I definitely felt a shift in my powerband. Moved up. Nothing bad just a little different.

My long tube headers are on without cat and WOW...What a difference in power and torque. The car sounds friggin awesome and moves pretty good too. I did however change my stock cam to a baby cam CC304 and it's got a very low lopey idle. For those who are considering long tube headers, trust me, they are worth every penny. Pacesetter long headers are definitely "The best bang for your buck"
